White River Garages
White River Garages are wonderful buildings for someone who may be limited on space but would like a place to put their vehicle.
These buildings have a hinged roof system, allowing you to have a loft without losing out on the headroom downstairs. There are a variety of different options that can be added to the design. If you need even more space, an enclosed lean-to off one side can be a great option.
This building has a wonderful New England look with its steeply pitched roof.
Let us help you develop a design for your White River Garage and keep the weather off your vehicle.

White River Garage FAQs
No matter how familiar you may be with construction, you may have many important questions. Your new garage will be an important part of your property. Think of yourself as the foreman of the project. No one will be as interested in or live with the outcome as long as you.
Here are some common questions, but feel free to ask any questions.
We are here to help you make the best decisions about your garage project.
I want an automatic door opener. What do you recommend?
All overhead doors will support an automatic door opener.
We recommend working with a local garage door openers company. If any future adjustments are needed the local company will be able to service your door.
How many cars can fit into a single car garage?
As a fun fact, according to the U.S. Department of Energy, 25% of homeowners cannot fit even one car in their two-car garage. Also, for those with two-car garages, 32% can fit in one car but not two cars.
We think any garage plan must include a meaningful discussion about extra storage.
If you need more space (don’t we all), an enclosed lean-to at the side of the garage or a loft can be great options to provide more storage space.Â
Can you provide advice on windows and doors?
Think about what you want to use your walls for. You may love the idea of natural light via windows. Natural light is nice, but windows break up the walls and limit options for hanging ladders and running cabinets/shelves.
You may want to limit the number of windows and doors on the longer wall runs.
What about garage utilities?
Map out the details of your utilities in advance.
Figure out where they will enter the garage. Will they come in from different directions or perhaps all from the same direction? Coming in from the same direction may pose challenges if you desire running water, gas lines, electricity, and vents.Â
You will want to have all of the utility installations priced out to have a complete picture of the costs.Â
What is the best location for a detached garage?
You may have what you think is the perfect place for your prefab detached garage, but you may want a second opinion. If we have reservations about your choice, we can help you review and either confirm your choice or suggest alternative locations.
Who is in charge of checking zoning regulations, getting permits, and putting in a foundation?
Though The Carriage Shed does supply a foundation plan and structural prints, the customer is responsible for all site work and foundation needs before the building can be delivered. They are also responsible for any post set up landscaping or finished grading. We suggest contacting your local town office for information regarding permits and zoning regulations.
